High-quality in-place recycling of asphalt layers

  • Cold In-place Recycling (CIR) and Full Depth Reclamation (FDR): the CR series machines are used as part of a paving train for the economical cold in-place recycling of road pavements in a single pass adding cement, emulsion or foamed bitumen, featuring a mixing capacity of up to 787.2 t / h (800 t / h).
  • Traffic lanes are rehabilitated quickly and easily using the compact W 240 CR / W 240 CRi cold recycler with integrated paving screed.
  • Lateral premilling gives the cold recyclers the flexibility needed to rehabilitate road pavements in a single pass even at widths exceeding the machine’s working width.
  • The cold recyclers can also be used as high-performance milling machines or to granulate pavement structures.

Features

  • Cold recycling with CR model series: The robust milling and mixing rotor granulates the damaged asphalt pavement. The granulated material is mixed with injected binders and water in the mixing chamber, thus creating a new homogeneous mix in an in-situ process. If the CR is equipped with a built-in paving screed, the mix is conveyed towards the centre as a result of the helical design of the milling and mixing rotor and subsequently transported to the paving unit via the primary conveyor. The spreading auger distributes the material evenly ahead of the variable paving screed which then paves it true to grade and slope. When cold recycling with integrated rear loading, the recycled mix is subsequently transported to the material hopper of the asphalt paver via the conveyor system comprising primary and discharge conveyor. The asphalt paver then paves the material true to grade and slope. The robust milling and mixing rotor granulates the damaged asphalt pavement. • WIRTGEN cutting technology: Results of high quality are the main goal of every construction project. This applies to road rehabilitation using cold milling machines and cold recyclers as well as to soil stabilization and the extraction of useful minerals using surface miners. Optimum interaction between the milling drum, toolholder and pick is essential for precise, efficient paving removal. WIRTGEN is a market leader in cutting technology and offers customers perfectly matched, high-performance cutting systems. WIRTGEN is also constantly developing its cutting technology components further. Such further developments are largely based on practical experience and feedback from our customers. • WIRTGEN levelling technology: WIRTGEN levelling technology controls height, depth and slope to achieve results of maximum precision. In the process, the system continuously reconciles the actual values with a preselected target value, correcting any deviations by means of proportional control. State-of-the-art machine engineering ensures levelling results of consistently high quality while at the same time relieving the machine operator of a significant part of his workload. WIRTGEN offers customers reliable hardware and software developed in-house. Different systems are used depending on the construction project to be completed and local conditions on site. • Mixing procedures: Cold recycling can be achieved either in-plant by hauling material recovered from an existing road to a central depot where it is fed through a mixing unit, or in-place using a recycling machine. When mixing in-place / in-situ, a cold recycler granulates the existing pavement while mixing in binders and water homogeneously at the same time. When mixing in-plant, reclaimed asphalt pavement and crushed stone are transported to a mixing plant located in the vicinity of the construction site.
