Meet the Designer Behind Our Limited-Edition America 250 Hat
We sat down with Anya to talk about her role, her creative process, and what it meant to put her stamp on a hat that celebrates America's 250th anniversary alongside the hardworking customers who keep our communities moving.
The Face of Our Front Office
Anya joined the Coastline Equipment family the first week of December 2025, and in just six months she's become a familiar and friendly presence at our Long Beach branch.
"I wear a lot of hats as the receptionist and office administrator," she says. From distributing mail and receiving equipment deliveries to processing paperwork, keeping supplies stocked, directing phone calls, and yes, even cleaning the coffee machine—Anya keeps the front office running smoothly. "There is always something that needs to be done, and I enjoy helping keep everything organized and welcoming."
What does she enjoy most? The people. "It's rewarding to work with a team that values customer service and takes pride in what we do."
Being the first person many customers meet is a responsibility she takes seriously. "Customer service is one of Coastline Equipment's top priorities, and I'm proud to be the first person many customers see. I want everyone to feel welcomed and have a positive experience from the moment they walk through our doors. No matter who you are, we're happy you're here."
From Sketchbook to Stitched Patch
What many people don't realize is that Anya holds a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and is a multimedia artist whose work spans murals, electrical box wraps, apparel, stickers, and logos. Lettering is one of her biggest passions, and she sketches every day. "I believe we were created to create," she says.
So when the opportunity came to design Coastline Equipment's America 250 hat, she was ready.
Her first thought? Honor the milestone. "I wanted the design to celebrate America's 250th anniversary using the classic red, white, and blue color palette while giving it a timeless, vintage feel."
Her creative process? Every design starts with a sketch. "Before I ever open my computer, I draw several concepts by hand. I share those sketches with the client, listen to what they like best, and use their feedback to refine the direction. Once we settle on the strongest concept, I bring it into the computer, add color and detail, and present the final options before completing the design."
Red, white, and blue were essential—but the cream-colored background for the patch is what gives the hat its classic, worn-in vintage look. "It fits the overall theme," she explains. "I wanted it to feel timeless—something with a classic Americana look that people would be proud to wear for years to come."
The inspiration came from an unexpected place. A few months before designing the hat, Anya went with her church family to see A Great Awakening. "The experience reminded me how grateful I am to live in America, and that feeling inspired the direction of the design."
And the part she's most proud of? "That the finished hat stayed true to my original sketch. It's always rewarding to see an idea go from a simple drawing to a finished product that people can wear."
What America 250 Means to Her
For Anya, this campaign is personal.
"Both of my parents were born in Mexico, and my dad became a U.S. citizen in his twenties. I grew up speaking Spanish and was in ESL until third grade. I'm proud of my Mexican heritage, and I'm proud to be an American. I truly feel like I have the best of both worlds."
That perspective shapes how she sees the contractors, operators, and equipment owners who shape America's story every day. "America has always been built through family and hard work. Contractors, operators, and equipment owners help create the roads, buildings, and infrastructure that keep our communities growing. Their work has shaped our country for generations, and they'll continue to play an important role in building America's future."
It's a perfect fit for Coastline Equipment, she believes. "Coastline Equipment has built its reputation by supporting the people who build America every day. Celebrating America's 250th anniversary is a natural fit because it recognizes the hardworking customers and communities we proudly serve."
Three Words: Classic. Vintage. Americana.
If the hat could tell a story, Anya says, "It would tell the story of American pride, hard work, and family tradition while honoring 250 years of history and looking forward to the future."
Her favorite reaction so far? "When someone says, 'Wow, that looks so good!' They're usually even more surprised when they find out it was designed by the receptionist at Coastline Equipment."
When customers slip the hat on, she hopes they feel proud to wear it and appreciate the history and spirit it represents. "I hope it represents pride, hard work, and community. Coastline Equipment is a family-owned business, and I think those values are reflected in the people we serve. Just like the contractors and operators who build our communities, Coastline is committed to supporting the hardworking people who help move America forward."
Beyond the Front Desk
Outside of work, Anya finds creativity in other forms of expression. Singing is one of her favorite hobbies, and she's an avid gardener. "Both activities help me slow down, stay inspired, and see creativity in different ways."
