Rental Developer- Coastline Equipment

Coastline Equipment is a distributor of John Deere, Hitachi and Bomag Construction Equipment. The Rental Developer will be responsible for Renting Deere, Hitachi and Bomag products, attachments, and the promotion of the overall business strategies of the company to new and existing customers in the greater Oxnard area. This individual will need to be motivated and committed to meeting customer’s needs, growing market share, maintaining established levels of rental revenue and exceeding rental revenue goals and targets.


  •  Daily Territory management and revenue growth
  •  Developing, planning and organizing rentals strategies
  •  Diversifying customer base to include CWP and C&F accounts
  •  Represents the company renting machinery to customers in a defined sales area.
  •  Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all equipment.
  •  Monitors competitive activity/products and timely communicates to management, accordingly.
  •  Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize to meet deadlines under pressure
  •  Strong selling, prospecting, cold calling and presentation skills required to successfully achieve rental quotas and targets.
  •  Maintains rental management information for all customers in the assigned territory and weekly call reports.
  •  Manage market awareness while providing calls and lost rental reports.
  •  Manage designated territory and customers to maximize our presence on equipment rentals.
  •  Maintains assigned company vehicles.
  •  Conducts rental equipment field demonstrations when needed.
  •  Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and timely communicates to management.
  •  Maintains current knowledge of jobsites and news related material that are lead driven.
  •  Attends applicable sales training events/seminars.
  •  Uses all sales related software programs.
  •  Maintains a professional appearance and act professional at all times.
  •  Maintains and updates customer prospect list for territories on an ongoing basis.
  •  Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
  •  Creates and maintains an annual forecast plan to maximize market share in rental territories.
  •  Perform all other requests deemed necessary that will promote and grow the business for Coastline Equipment.


  •  1-2 years construction equipment rental experience preferred
  •  Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet functions
  •  Ability to work flexible hours
  •  Excellent customer relationship skills
  •  High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  •  Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports

  •  Quote and negotiate rental rates.
  •  The qualified candidate must be able to communicate well with team members, department managers and co-workers within the company to ensure a consistent, predictable and repeatable experience for customers.
  •  Adhere to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  •  Ability to comprehend, capture and interpret customer and equipment information.
  •  Excellent computer skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, customer relationship management, and work management software.
  •  Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills utilizing professional written and verbal communication.
  •  Excellent planning, organizing, leadership and interpersonal relationship building. Must be an excellent collaborator, listener, and team player working well between all departments.
  •  Work well under pressure with ability to set and manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands of the work environment
  •  Controls expenses incurred while on company business.
  •  Completes and submits appropriate reports in a timely manner.
  •  Ability to effectively and safely operate all equipment assigned.
  •  Must be able to work independently and without supervision.
  •  Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to accommodate customer’s needs.
  •  Submit periodic reports detailing lost rental activities and evaluate the results of such lost rentals and communicate resolution to correct.
  •  Promotes and manages marketing campaigns designed to drive business into assigned and or other areas.
  •  Perform all other duties deemed necessary that will promote and grow the business


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
  • Associates degree in Business or related discipline preferred.
  • Previous sales or customer service experience required.
  • Familiar with the use of heavy equipment in a comparable industry experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read, comprehend and write).


  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting (and to get in and out of equipment safely).
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as required.
